Bonsai card: template to fill out and print

Download a free bonsai card with identification, origin, observations, care and photos. Print without registration or use the fields on a digital card.

In this guide

A card works best when it helps you recognize a tree and find your notes. The template below is free and can be completed on paper. Leave fields blank when you don't know the information; you don't have to guess species, origin, or date.

How to use the template

Fill in the name by which you identify the bonsai and, if you know, the species. Add the origin, the date it entered the collection, and where it is kept. Use the observation areas to record context, not just conclusions: “moved to 12/05” tells more than “is better.”

Keep one card per copy. If you are correcting an identification, strike out the old information and note when you made the change. For each care, write down the date it actually occurred and the description of what you did. The model does not provide recommended doses or intervals; these choices depend on appropriate references to the plant and its conditions.

Printable form

Use the button to print or choose “Save as PDF” in the browser dialog. Without printing, you can also copy the fields to your notebook.

A digital plant profile whenever you prefer

If you want to keep the plant profile together with photos and care history, Bancada Bonsai offers a free catalogue for up to 3 plants. The paper form remains available without registration.

For general information on bonsai and identification, consult the basics of bonsai from Bonsai Empire. This template is an organization tool, not a cultivation assessment.
